Devastation Is Part Of The Game - Part 45

When I head onto Route 21, the first thing I do is bring up which Pokémon I can catch in this new area.

I see that there are some good looking ones.

Scyther, Altaria, Floatzle and Ursaring are the ones that stick out above all others. But if I fish I have a 5% chance of finding something that could be super helpful.

A Dratini! But then I think about it for a second. The only reason I would really want this is for the Electric-type moves it can learn. But I already have a massive Dragon-type (Amy).

I decide against fishing and head into the grass.

It's a strong Ursaring. I catch it and name it myself... Big Dipper.

Or Big D for short.

I head over to Victory Road, where a guy checks out my badges and then demands to fight me to make sure I'm strong enough. This guy was actually difficult. I always forget that the trainers around Victory Road, go up in difficulty really quickly.

I head into the tunnel looking forward to something new, even a Graveler would be good.

I run into the first trainer. It only has a Weavile.

But it is level 60, which is fairly steep. It's a good thing my Waxworth is nearly level 60.

I send out Waxworth and forgot... Weavile is a lot faster. It uses Night Slash.

I watch Waxworth's HP slowly dwindle from green...

...to yellow...

... to red...

... and finally... Waxworth slowly closes his eyes. And is no more.

And Waxworth has passed.

I actually get so upset... that I turn my DS off and don't play it for another two days, but since this would be a rather short part, I'll keep going... even though it still is a sore spot.

After the trainer battle, I run into a horde of Floatzel.

I've never used one before, rather than being an HM whore, but since this is the very last Pokémon I can catch, I'm happy I caught a needed Water-Type.

I catch a male Floatzel and name it Daxter. After this little guy...

I decide that I need three things before I continue into Victory Road.

I need training, the TM for Earthquake, and a Lucky Egg.

The first thing I do is snag Earthquake since I was already really close to it. And it will be super, super useful. And I immediately teach it to Amy, Master Chi and Big Dipper.

Then I go out of my way to get the Lucky Egg.

Now it is time to train.

I train like there is no tomorrow. I'm getting these guys ready for Victory Road.
