From Surfing to Flying - Part 22

Data entry #22: Hour 22 Minute 46 - Heading is Route 13. Encounter Calem. Codenamed: Dreamboat Future Husband. DFH delivers package. Package contains Hidden Machine Surf. Proceeds to ogle at DFH until DFH leaves.

Wait... I don't have a single Pokémon that can use Surf. Did I just accidentally end my playthrough?

Let's see if I can fanangle something here... give me a second.

Okay! I got it. To continue through the game, which to be honest would probably be impossible for some with the random catching Pokémon aspect, I need something that can use Surf. Which usually is only Water-types. So I need one.

Lucky for me, technically I 'captured' Lucario in Mastery Tower, not in Shalour City, which means the ocean in Shalour City is still up for grabs. Or in this case for fishing.

Am I good or am I GOOD?

I throw my Old Rod out and reel in another Luvdisc.

I don't even ask for a name. It already has one.

Hallmark... 2.

So I take Hallmark 2 out of the PC, after throwing Babe in there. And teach it Surf, and head onto Route 13.

I battle enough here until I get HeebieJeebies at the level I want, which was 27, so it could learn Confusion. And then I use a Leaf Stone on it.

It then evolves into...

An Exeggutor!

Which immediately learns Egg Bomb, so now it has nice variety of moves and some higher stats that I can totally work with.

I train HeebieJeebies a bit more along the way since there are plenty of fishermen and swimmers here and eventually I hit Coumarine City.

I'm about to explore and... I have a call on my Holo-Caster.

IT'S CALEM!

He says he wants to date fight me in front of the gym!

But accidently I talk to a strange man who gives me a Good Rod!

That's a fishing pole you pervs.

So I start making my way over there and run into Sycamore and that... woman that Calem wanted to see earlier... Diantha. That movie star, bug-eyed, wedding dress wearing, harlot.

Sycamore does however give me the HM for Fly.

Too bad I don't have any Pokémon that can learn it...

I'm distracted now, so after I take the monorail up towards the gym, I completely forget about meeting with Calem for our wedding battle. And I head onto Route 13.

Oh. I like this Route. There are two Dragon-types here. And one of them is my favorite now if only I can luckily run into one of them...

A Gible appears. It's a Gible.

IT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED.

I catch it ASAP. And without even looking at its gender I give it the next name that was recommended to me by a friend.

So I name my male Gible with the Sand Veil ability, Amy.

And for some strange reason I feel like this name fits it perfectly.

Whodathunkit?

I suddenly remember I need to go and fight Calem, but not with Amy, not yet at least.

I keep Amy on the sidelines and have ShutUppyPuff and Master Chi take out his team of three Pokémon.

Easy as cherpumple.

As a sidenote: if anyone wants to win a straight way to my heart, give me a cherpumple. I've always wanted to try one...

The Coumarine City Gym lies ahead. I have a team that is practically made for this Grass-type gym.

Ham n Cheese will be able to take out most of them, except the Grass/Poison typings, but that's what Urologist is for, and for the few Grass/Steel typings, than I have Master Chi to dominate there.

It is time to start training Amy.

Who evolves after only growing one level!

Welcome to the team Gabite!

I breeze through most of the trainers (if not all, I'm not entirely sure since this is an annoying gym to traverse), and train Amy through all of it.

And that leaves me in front of the Gym Leader... Ramos.

Let's get it on, old timer.
