My Rival Tries to Win Me Back - Part 3

It's only the beginning of the game and I already have a character I want to DESTROY and my first Pokémon, Bulbasaur, which is actually my Chespin, not a Bulbasaur. So I make my way back to Vanville, where my mom is and my dad isn't, because I have no idea where he is.

I hand my mom a letter that my new stranger danger friends gave me and the first thing she wonders when I hand it to her is this.

"Is it a love letter?"

I don't even have words for my mother anymore. I clearly have a father, even though I have no idea where he is, and when I played through the game I know you never find him (or at least I never did). And my mother is asking if it's a love letter?

That either means my dad is dead or my parents are at odds.

This game just got deep, kids.

So as my mom is asking me the typical questions and giving me a town map and everything I'm sitting here jamming out to Malufenix (who if you don't know is a pretty rad musician that plays Skyrim/Hobbit/Game of Thrones/Etc. music pretty awesomely)...
It was this song to be precise.

... when I realize. My mom is dark. She is actually way darker than I am in the game.

(that's her from the TV show)

Does that mean I inherited my looks from my uber-white father? Am I adopted? OR KIDNAPPED?

It's actually probably just the devs were a little too lazy to create parents that look like the character you accepted in the beginning of the game.

Anyways I leave Vaniville, and the gates open like they normally do (who opens them? Probably my dad), and I head through Aquacorde and onto my first route. Route 2.

I'm stoked, this will be my first official catch of the Nuzlocke. It has a nice selection of early Pokémon to snag. I could get a Weedle or a Fletchling, both of who would be good. I head into the nearest patch of grass eager to get started and quickly a Pokémon attacks... and it's a...

PIDGEY!
Sweet! A classic that I know, extremely well. It's not the best choice, but it is a great start to this challenge.

It's a level 3 female Pidgey with the ability Keen Eye. It's a great starter Pokémon especially for the first gym and forest coming up!

So I text a friend asking them to name a female Pokémon. I don't even tell them it's a Pidgey. And the response came fast and with a single name only in the text.

"Rosco"

So I would like to introduce everyone to the Pidgey named Rosco.

So I train Rosco until she is level 6, in the same area I found her. She battles mainly Pidgeys and Fletchlings and a Weedle. I continue in the story and Calem (the male rival) shows me how to catch a Pokémon.

...a little late for that...

And Shauna, how I hate her, is surprised that Pokémon go inside Pokéballs.

So ignoring how dumb she is I continue to train Rosco, until she learns gust and then I eagerly head into Santalune Forest.

This is a new area, which means I can catch a NEW Pokémon. I'm excited. This area has the three elemental Pan-monkeys, they could be helpful, plus it has some nice bugs.

But all of a sudden Shauna wants to go with me. Oh great. Now she is trying to woo me back onto her side. Especially since she is willing to heal my Pokémon for me when they get hurt. Well I'll abuse that. And do some training in her without running back to Poké Centers.

But I want a new Pokémon.

I run into the nearest grass and find myself staring into the face of a...

PIKACHU!

A female one with the ability Static.

Another classic, that I know well, that can help me early in the game. With this one I don't ask anyone for help nicknaming it. One popped into my head.

Negative Nancy.

But since it doesn't fit I decided to go with Neggs, for short.

So to take a little break and to power up my newest member I do so Super Training for Pikachu and of course it has a yellow soccer ball, which is my least favorite. For those of you who don't know Super Training raises your Effort Values (EVs), which are more or less invisible point values that factor in to how your Pokémon grows. So doing this training will make Neggs grow more in favor of how I want it to grow.

But after doing some Super Training and regular Training I decided to call it a night.

But I still have a long way to go in this game and I can feel the winds starting to no longer blow in my favor.

My Team:
Neggs (Pikachu) level 6 - Santalune Forest
Bulbasaur (Chespin) level 9 - Aquacorde Town
Rosco (Pidgey) level 9 - Route 2
