Viola and Her Buggy Entourage - Part 6

Every once in a while I'll skip ahead for you guys so you don't have to hear every itty-bitty detail about how I go about with things in my Challenge.

Before I did anything else I wanted to make sure our newest member, Ront the Dunsparce, has proper training. So I began to train him. I made him do tiny little laps in the air (since he has wings and apparently can fly), I made him battle lots of wild Pokémon (only by using Rollout, since it is practically his only good move at the moment), and found out that I actually do not hate him that much.

That's right I said it.

Ront is doing okay!

such a good movie

He has some decent HP and defense, this early in the game, so he can take a good amount of hits, and with Rollout being a move that takes multiple turns before it's actually usable. It pairs up nicely with him.

So now with Ront at level 10 and the rest of my team at 10 or higher (with WenchWench taking the longest because it doesn't have any high damaging moves).

I decide that it is time.

Rosco, it's your moment to shine.

It's time to put on your battle gear, little one. It's going to be almost all up to you.

With Rosco ready I head into the first gym, the Santalune Gym that features the Bug Badge.

I head in and start to walk around the small web maze on the base floor of the gym. And for some reason I get confused. It only has one true path and I keep going in circles. Maybe I should have been focusing on the game rather than this tasty Reese Puff Cereal that I'm eating.

Can I get a...

WHAM!

Anyways after finally finishing and buckling down, I beat the three trainers, with Rosco. Without healing. And Rosco only lost 8 total HP. Look at my little birdy all grown up. It's enough to make a grown man cry...

And the moment of truth is here. Viola. The photographer/Bug-specialist. And let me tell you one thing. If she says FANTASTIC one more time, I may just have Rosco attack her instead.

Here I'll actually write the exact first thing she says to me here.

"That determined expression… That glint in your eye that says you're up to the challenge… It's fantastic! Just fantastic! Is this your first time challenging a Gym? Fantastic! Whether it's the tears of frustration that follow a loss or the blossoming of joy that comes with victory… They're both great subjects for my camera! Fantastic! This'll be just fantastic! Now come at me! My lens is always focused on victory—I won't let anything ruin this shot!"

Well at least she is excited, I suppose, but little does she know about Rosco and how much of a BEAST his is.

She starts it out by throwing out the Water/Bug Surskit, easy as cake, it gets off a Water Gun, before I take it down.

This is going swimmingly!

The next one she sends is Vivillion, this shouldn't be a problem.

Bang. She hits me. And she hits me hard. I'm at 8 HP. It did 12 HP worth of damage to Rosco.

My rules indicate that I cannot heal during battle. So either Rosco tries to get another Gust off (which by the way only took maybe 1/4 of Vivillion's health), or switch it out.

So I switch Rosco out. I cannot send Bulbasaur in there because he will get torn apart, WenchWench is too weak. So it is between Neggs and Ront. And like I said Ront has been doing fairly well. So...

Go, Ront!
Now I chose Ront for Rollout and for those of you who don't know it looks a little bit like this.

And yes I usually start off a Rollout attack by saying "Autobots, ROLL OUT!"

And the carnage starts. Ront just absolutely destroys her Vivillion hitting it with the 4x weakness.

And the Bug Badge is mine!

So I run out of there and heal up and get the Exp Share from Viola's sister (remember I cannot use this item as per the rules) and head onto Route 4.

Route 4 is a new area, which means I can catch a new Pokémon!

For those of you who don't know, Route 4 is an area that you will more than likely find a new Pokémon called Flabébé...

Now I used this in my first playthrough and... it's not horrible. It learns a nice array of grass and fairy moves and has some great defense, but... I don't know. It's just meh.

So I fight some trainers, dreading on getting a Flabébé.

I fight some trainers and level up a bit and then decide on the color flower Flabébé I will want. Because depending on what color flowers you walk into the greater chance of finding a Flabébé of that color there will be. Last time I wanted a yellow one, but this time I wanted the classic red.

I take three steps into the flowers and...

I freak out. It's a Ralts. A Psychic-type that was already good, but now also Fairy-type. But I'm freaking out because I'm pretty sure it has Teleport. I throw a ball at it annnnnnd.

GOT IT!

I ask a friend to name it and he chooses the name, "Murray" so I have Murray the Ralts.

I then immediately save my game. And check out the newest member of the party.

It's a female Ralts with the Trace ability. And it... doesn't have Teleport.

So I freaked for no reason.

I immediately train for a little bit, and then decide I have had enough fun for the day and save and quit.

My Team:
Murray (Ralts) level 10 - Route 4
Bulbasaur (Chespin) level 11 - Aquacorde Town
WenchWench (Bunnelby) level 10 - Route 3
Neggs (Pikachu) level 11 - Santalune Forest
Ront (Dunsparce) level 11 - Route 22
Rosco (Pidgey) level 14 - Route 2
